Important information about Eid al-Fitr and the October 2008 SAT
This year, the normally scheduled October 4 SAT® test date occurs during a time of Muslim religious observance, Eid al-Fitr . To avoid any difficulties for students of the Islamic faith, the October 2008 SAT has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 18, 2008, in the countries listed below.
What if I am already registered for the October 2008 SAT in one of the countries listed below?
- A new Admission Ticket will be sent, which will note the revised test date of October 18, 2008. (This will be the only October SAT test date available in the country where you registered to take the test.)
- If you are unable to test on October 18, please contact the SAT Program as soon as possible and, if necessary, we will transfer your registration to a future test date at no additional charge.
What if I need to take the October 2008 SAT in one of the countries listed below and I am not yet registered?
- First, you should make sure you are available to test on October 18.
- Then, you should register for the October SAT by the published registration deadline (September 9, 2008).
- Once you are registered, your Admission Ticket will note the October 18 test date.
Scores from the rescheduled test will be reported as October scores. Most scores should be available starting the first week of November, so college/scholarship application processes should not be affected. Also, the Question-And-Answer Service (QAS) will not be available for the rescheduled date.
Plan to arrive at the test center no later than 7:45 a.m. on October 18, 2008, with your Admission Ticket, acceptable photo ID, calculator, and No. 2 pencils with good erasers.
What if I am testing in the U.S. and need to request an alternate test date due to Eid al-Fitr ?
If you are registered (or planning to register) for the October 4 SAT in the United States and require an alternate test date due to religious observance please contact the SAT Program.
